These torn-paper collages feature vividly colored paintings created using hands, brushes, and scraps of wood from the wood product-making process. The paintings are torn into various shapes and freely arranged on colored backing paper. Directed by Rika Kawato, these works are created by the members of OBUSUMA , who are free from preconceived notions and possess diverse sensibilities and senses.

This map is designed for people traveling by bicycle. It shows not only cities and roads in Tokyo, Saitama, Hokkaido, Tochigi and other areas, but also restaurants and shops selling food and drinks.

The artist who completed this painting used to draw small, cute clothes and girls on paper, but through repeated art workshops, she has become able to express herself freely, and those around her are surprised by her original sensibility. ( According to Rika Kawato )

Works

Poster paper

We use the thickest V-FS A3 paper, a high-quality printing paper that achieves a high-level balance between the opposing properties of excellent color development and paper texture, and is also FSC certified*. Due to its thickness, it is less susceptible to humidity and environmental changes, and is characterized by its resistance to curling and warping.

*FSC certification evaluates and certifies "whether forest management and logging are carried out with consideration for the environment and local communities," and certifies that products are derived from such forests (products made from properly managed forest timber). The operation is carried out by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®, headquartered in Germany), an NGO.

About frames

Original frame using pine wood processed from pine trees as the core material to suppress shape changes due to dryness and humidity, and wrapped with veneer that has a beautiful grain and is less prone to warping and cracking.

Natural wood (surface veneer) / Back panel: MDF*1 / Transparent panel: PET*2

*1 A board made by crushing wood into fibers and then forming it. It is known as an eco-friendly material with high recyclability because it utilizes wood scraps and thinned wood to effectively use wood resources.
*2 It is as transparent as glass, yet light and resistant to breakage. It conforms to the Food Sanitation Act, is used in PET bottles and other products, and does not emit harmful gases when incinerated.
