Because butterflies transform from larvae to pupae to adults, they have been used as a motif in Japan to represent "immortality" and "eternity," appearing in family crests and kimono patterns. The butterfly depicted in embroidery in this poster spreads its wings majestically, conveying a sense of strength. *This poster is a print scanned from the original embroidery artwork. 長野訓子

Embroidery artist and founder of the accessory brand ga.la. After graduating from Saga University of Arts, she worked as a copperplate print artist and textile designer before becoming involved in her family’s embroidery business. Her distinctive embroidered works, which make use of the organic lines of plants, are loved by well-known figures as well. Since launching her brand in 2015, she has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions held throughout Japan.

About poster paper

We use the thickest grade ofヴァンヌーボV-FS, a premium printing paper that achieves an excellent balance between vibrant color reproduction and a pleasing paper texture, two properties that are often at odds. It is also FSC certified*. Due to its thickness, it is less susceptible to the effects of humidity and environmental changes, and is characterized by its resistance to curling and warping.

*FSC certification evaluates and certifies whether forest management and logging are carried out with consideration for the environment and local communities, and certifies products derived from such forests (products made from responsibly managed forest timber). The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®: headquartered in Germany), an NGO, operates the certification.

Regarding the frame

This original frame uses pine wood processed to reduce shape changes caused by dryness or humidity as a core material, wrapped with beautiful, warp- and crack-resistant wood veneer.

Natural wood (surface veneer) / Backing board: MDF*1 / Transparent sheet: PET*2

*1 A board made by crushing wood into fibers and then forming them. Known as an eco-friendly material with high recyclability, as it utilizes wood chips and thinnings to effectively use wood resources.
*2 Extremely lightweight while having similar transparency to glass. It does not produce toxic gases when burned, so it is often used for food containers such as PET bottles.
