    画像は大川菜々子さんの「富士山」   YouTubeやSNSを見ていると、日本を訪れた外国人が、食事や街の清潔さ、電車の正確さ、店員の丁寧な対応に驚いている動画をよく目にします。そこには誇張された表現もあるかもしれません。再生数を意識した演出も、まったくないとは言い切れません。それでも、2025年の訪日外客数が過去最多を更新したことを考えると、日本に向けられる関心が一時的な話題だけではないことも見えてきます。 では、外国人は実際にどこから来て、どれくらい滞在し、何にお金を使っているのでしょうか。まずは印象ではなく、データから見ていきたいと思います。 ※ 本文で扱う訪日外客数は日本政府観光局が公表する推計値、旅行消費額は観光庁の確報値を基本にしています。   訪日外国人は、過去最多に 日本政府観光局（JNTO）の推計値によると、2025年の訪日外客数は4,268万3,600人。前年比では15.8％増となり、過去最高だった2024年を大きく上回りました。観光庁の調査では、2025年の訪日外国人旅行消費額は9兆4,549億円と推計されています。前年比では16.4％増となり、こちらも非常に大きな規模になっています。 項目 2025年実績 読み取れること 訪日外客数（推計値） 4,268万3,600人 過去最高を更新 前年比 15.8％増 旅行需要が引き続き拡大 旅行消費額 9兆4,549億円 消費規模も過去最高水準 1人当たり旅行支出（一般客） 約22.9万円 国や地域により大きな差 ※ 観光庁の1人当たり旅行支出は、クルーズ客を除く「一般客」を対象にした指標です。そのため、旅行消費額の総額を訪日外客数全体で単純に割った数字とは一致しません。 ここで大切なのは、訪日外国人をひとまとめに見ないことです。 近い国から短期間で何度も来る人もいれば、長い休暇を使って日本各地を巡る人もいます。買い物を楽しむ人もいれば、食事や宿泊、移動そのものを含めて日本を体験する人もいます。   どの国・地域から来ているのか...
