These are torn-paper pictures created by tearing vibrantly colored paintings, drawn using scraps of wood from the process of making wooden products, hands, and brushes, into various shapes and freely pasting them onto colored backing paper. Directed by Rika Kawato, these works are created by the artists who are members of OBUSUMA, with diverse sensibilities and senses that are not bound by preconceived notions.

The artist who completed this painting is usually not someone who takes spontaneous action, but they were pasting the paper flat, one piece at a time, with a bright expression, and the joy of it was conveyed to those watching. (According to an OBUSUMA staff member)

About poster paper.

Made with the thickest paper of Van Nuovo V-FS, a premium printing paper that achieves a high level of balance between the opposing qualities of excellent color reproduction and a pleasant paper texture, and is also FSC certified*. Its thickness makes it less susceptible to humidity and environmental changes, and it is also characterized by its resistance to warping and curling.

*FSC certification is a system that evaluates and certifies whether forest management and logging are carried out with consideration for the environment and local communities, and proves that a product originates from such forests (products made from properly managed forest timber). It is operated by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®: headquarters in Germany), an NGO.

About the frame (picture frame)

To reduce shape changes due to dryness and humidity, we use pine wood, which is processed from pine trees, as the core material, and an original frame wrapped with veneer that has a beautiful grain and is less prone to warping or cracking.

Natural wood (surface veneer) / Backboard MDF※1 / Transparent board PET※2

*1 A board made by pulverizing wood into a fibrous powder and then molding it. Because it utilizes wood resources effectively, including end pieces and thinned-out trees, it is known as an eco-friendly material with high recyclability.
*2 It has a similar transparency to glass but is extremely lightweight. Because it doesn't produce toxic gases when burned, it's a commonly used material for food containers such as PET bottles.
