島上直子

After graduating from the Faculty of Art at Kyoto Seika University, she has worked as an artist. She has been selected for numerous exhibitions, and in recent years has held solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad almost every year. Seeing travel as a source of inspiration, she reflects in her work the stimulation and discoveries that arise from stepping away from everyday reality and placing herself in new surroundings. She aims to create paintings that do not restrict the viewer’s imagination, but instead invite free interpretation through both the mind and the senses.
