A sky opening to the horizon, light unraveling on the water's surface. By minimally depicting the shape of the shore, a stillness arises, as if you can hear the sound of the waves. Hiroko Hashimoto does not exaggerate her brushstrokes but layers watercolors of different concentrations horizontally, imbuing the sky's gradation with the feel of the time of day. The sparkle of the water's surface is scattered with light touches of dots, and the rock face gains texture from blurred outlines and wavering shades. It is a landscape that quietly transports you to a place a little far from everyday life.

ハシモトヒロコ

A watercolor artist from Ehime Prefecture, currently based in Kagawa Prefecture. After graduating from the Western Painting Course in the Department of Fine Arts at Nara College of Arts, and gaining experience as a web designer, she began her career as an artist in 2020. Fascinated by the unique bleeding and transparency of watercolor, as well as the contours of color that emerge by chance as different colors interact, she now creates and presents her work through solo exhibitions while based in her local area.

Poster paper

We use the thickest V-FS A3 paper, a high-quality printing paper that achieves a high-level balance between the opposing properties of excellent color development and paper texture, and is also FSC certified*. Due to its thickness, it is less susceptible to humidity and environmental changes, and is characterized by its resistance to curling and warping.

*FSC certification evaluates and certifies "whether forest management and logging are carried out with consideration for the environment and local communities," and certifies that products are derived from such forests (products made from properly managed forest timber). The operation is carried out by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council®, headquartered in Germany), an NGO.

About frames

Original frame using pine wood processed from pine trees as the core material to suppress shape changes due to dryness and humidity, and wrapped with veneer that has a beautiful grain and is less prone to warping and cracking.

Natural wood (surface veneer) / Back panel: MDF*1 / Transparent panel: PET*2

*1 A board made by crushing wood into fibers and then forming it. It is known as an eco-friendly material with high recyclability because it utilizes wood scraps and thinned wood to effectively use wood resources.
*2 It is as transparent as glass, yet light and resistant to breakage. It conforms to the Food Sanitation Act, is used in PET bottles and other products, and does not emit harmful gases when incinerated.
